Hello again, I'm jam, from www.patinar-zaragoza.com (Skating in Saragossa, Spain).

First, excuse me because I don't know to write in german language.

What about "Pasarlo Pipa"? I enjoy you got fun with those words.

In this time I write in this forum because I'm joining european laws about skating. They are different in each country and I think in Spain is more restrictive than other countries.

Could you tell me where could I have information about skating laws in Germany?

I would like to comparate all the laws and publish them in our website. At the moment, I have french and spanish skating laws.

Thanks in advance... and... Pasarlo Pipa is wonderful!!

Hi Jam, there are no skating laws in Germany. Unfortunately skaters are treated like pedestrians and therefore have to use the sidewalk.

Cheers
Frank

Sorry Frank, I didn't know, that I have to use the sidewalk.
But I think the spain law is the same. The only differnt is, they don't have a sidewalk at Malle.

Thank yoy all.

In Spain, we are tretaed like pedestrians.

We have to skate among pedestrians and with a pedestrian speed. (Its more difficult to skate at pedestrians speed that in normal skating speed).

We can only skate on the road if there aren't pavements for pedestrians, and in the oppsite direction of cars.

Thank you again.

You have to skate on sidewalks, but you normally dont do you ?

Since my last skate in Barcelona ( last week thursday ), I see no other skater there and the police hasn't recognized me while I skated on the road.

So we do skate also not always on the pavement because in some regions the surface is very bad and cars are parking on it.

But the law claims to skate on the pavement, if pavement is not accesible you are allowed to use the road's.

But other countries like france have more stict rules - or isn't it ?

Regards

Rolf

Hi Jam,

great idea for a usefull website! Please post the link when you have it online.

I have a further suggestion for your website: Could you also collect information about how the laws are actually enforced in the different countries?
I know this is not an easy task, as it varies from town to town in a single country and it may change more rapidly than laws also. But this makes the collection usefull as a guide for skating trips in holidays.

Law doesn't tell much, for your country consider the following scene of thursday night in Barcelona, where we regularly pass by police cars and nobody cares although skaters do not respect any traffic regulations (traffic lights, speed, one way streets...)

(@Rolf, wo warst du, dass du keine Skater gesehen hast? Man sieht sie doch eigentlich zu jeder Tageszeit.)

Well.

At first time, I need the official text of your law.

Into the law that rules the cars traffic, you can find some regulations for skaters or some vehicles with wheels. In the spanish law of traffic, there is not reference to skaters, but tells sometghing about pedestrians with some vehicles.

I need the code of your law, what is its name. For example, in Spain it is called "Código de Circulación".
And in france it is called "Code de la Route".

And now, let's work!

OK,

German traffic is regulated by the "Straßenverkehrs-Ordnung (StVO)".

Inlineskaters are not mentioned therein, but there is a verdict (19.3.2002, Az. VI ZR 333/00) of one of the highest german law courts (BGH) saying that inlineskates are "Besondere Fortbewegungsmittel" (exceptional means of transport) according to §24 StVO and hence to be treated as pedestrians with regulations according to §25 StVO.
Maxium speed for "Besondere Fortbewegungsmittel" is walking speed which is badly defined but probably 4-7km/h. By the way, there is no speed limit for pedestrians given...

Thank you.

In our team, we have a person who can translate from german language.

I'll send him this web.

I would open a section in our forum: "LEGISLACION / LAWS / LOI / INLINEGESETZ???

I don't know if I have written correctly inline gesetz.

I'll notice you when I have done this work.

thankyou.
